Fancy a drink in a quirky, secret location in Paris? There are several venues riding the wave of the “underground bar” concept. LE BHV MARAIS lifts the lid on the best of them.

Le Moonshiner

To enter the Moonshiner world, you first need to enter the Da Vito pizzeria. At the back, behind the cold store, there is a door that will lead you straight into the heart of the Prohibition years. This place makes delicious cocktails.

Address: 5 rue Sedaine 75011 Paris

La Candelaria

This place has a Mexican vibe that will delight Latin American fans. For the less adventurous, treat yourself at the tapas bar. For others, carry on through the restaurant. At the back you’ll find a door that is hiding a bar. Tequila or rum, wine or beer, it’s your choice.

Address: 52 rue de Saintonge 75003 Paris

Le Blaine

The most mysterious. If you’ve any hope of getting inside the Blaine, hidden away in the 8th arrondissement, you will need to get the password before you go. To do this, simply request it on the bar’s Facebook page. But take note: the password changes every week!

Address: 65 rue Pierre Charron, 75008 Paris

Le Lavomatic

Behind a working launderette there lies a hidden apartment, where you can enjoy a range of homemade cocktails, wine as well as grab a bite to eat! There’s very little information about it online, so we’ll let you make your own mind up!

Address: 30 rue René Boulanger 75010 Paris

Le Baranaan

A journey through India in the heart of Paris. Owned by two brothers, this establishment, made to look like a train carriage, and hidden at the back of an Indian restaurant, has a range of Indian spirits and alcoholic drinks. This is an enchanting place with an exotic feel, we love it!

Address: 7 rue du Faubourg Saint-Martin 75010 Paris
